Rental Policies

 
  • You must be at least 18 and hold a valid driver’s license in order to rent and operate any of our boats.

  • Please show up 30 minutes prior to your scheduled reservation time to ensure that you are able to get your full rental time on the water. Rentals cannot be extended or refunded due to late arrival.

  • Renter must be present with their driver’s license and security deposit before boats are allowed to be boarded.

  • Grills, open flames, generators, and generator-powered speakers (PA speakers) are strictly prohibited.

  • Reschedules for the current season due to weather are allowed if the weather is inclement. Inclement weather is defined as weather where there are unsafe conditions. This includes: severe storms, lightning, high wind advisory, or tornado. Reschedules are based on actual weather conditions on the lake at the time of rental, not future weather forecasts.

  • Initial fuel on board is included in the rental cost. Any additional fuel needed while on the water will be extra.

  • Our boats are not allowed to be tied together, doing so will result in a forfeiture of the full deposit, and a termination of any future rentals without refund. 

  • Falsifying any information (e.g. name, age, DL number etc.) can result in the termination of the reservation, with no refund.

  • When do I pay for my rental?

  • The full rental cost is due at the time of reservation.

  • How do I make a reservation?

  • Reservations can be made online or by calling 812-837-9909.

  • What is the "All Day" Rate?

  • The All Day rate allows you to check-in for your rental as early as 8AM and return as late as 6PM.

  • Are dogs allowed?

  • Dogs are allowed on pontoon and double deckers. They are not allowed on ski boats. Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards are at your own risk.

  • Are grills allowed?

  • Grills are not allowed on any of the boats.

  • What food options are available on the lake?

  • The Fishin Shedd has a deli with hot & cold sandwiches and breakfast in the morning. Four Winds Resort has a restaurant on the lake. You can also grab food at The Trailhead, The Scenic View, or at Lake Monroe Marina

  • Is alcohol allowed?

  • Yes, alcohol is allowed on boats. Please be sure everyone has a safe and fun time on Lake Monroe. Anyone operating the watercraft must remain sober in accordance with Indiana law.

  • Are coolers allowed?

  • Yes, coolers are allowed on boats. 

  • Are generators allowed?

  • No, generators are not allowed on boats.

  • Do children count toward capacity counts?

  • Yes, children count toward boat capacity.

  • Do babies count toward capacity counts?

  • Yes, babies count towards boat capacity.

  • Are life jackets provided?

  • Life jackets are provided with every boat rental.

  • Where are the bathrooms?

  • Bathrooms are located in the Paynetown camp grounds.

  • What do I need to rent a boat?

  • You must be 18 with a valid drivers license in order to rent a boat.

  • Can I fish off the boat?

  • Fishing off of the boats is allowed. Indiana law requires individuals 18 and over to have a fishing license. Licenses can be purchased at the DNR office.

  • What is the water temperature? 

  • The water is great! Jump on in!

  • How do I check in for a reservation?

  • Please visit the General Store in Paynetown SRA to check in for your reservation.

  • What happens after returning a boat?

  • Our experienced and friendly dock workers will check over your boat upon return. You can then return to the General Store to receive your deposit.

  • What should I bring?

  • Whatever you like! We recommend bringing coolers, food, snacks, towels, and sunglasses. Life jackets are included with every rental!

  • Is the beach open?

  • For information regarding Paynetown beach please contact the Paynetown Office at 812-837-9546.

Refunds and Cancellations

 
  • There are no refunds due to late check-ins, early return, change of plans, illness, weather, or car problems

  • Once a reservation has been made, a boat may be cancelled for a fee of 15% of the total rental cost if the rental is cancelled before the locked-in date. Once locked in, the renter is responsible for the full cost of the rental. See below for locked-in policies.

  • Pontoon & Jet Ski rentals are considered locked-in 72 hours prior to the start of the rental.

  • Fishing Boats & Non-motorized rentals are considered locked-in 72 hours prior to the start of the rental.

  • Double Decker and Ski Boat rentals are considered locked-in two weeks prior to the start of the rental.

  • A reservation for multiple boats is considered locked in at the time of reservation and may not be cancelled.
